Mother Blessing Ceremony
A Mother Blessing is a unique way to celebrate and support the expectant mother.
In many countries, rituals and celebrations are held for the expectant mother sometime during the last month of pregnancy. A common event is a baby shower where gifts for the baby are given to the expectant mother, but during a Mother Blessing, the mother herself is the focus.
At the end of pregnancy, women are often very tired and perhaps also nervous about the birth. Having a Mother Blessing arranged is both fun and uplifting, but above all, the gathering functions as support and makes the expectant mother feel that she is not alone facing the big event that is about to happen.
A Mother Blessing is planned and arranged by one or more of the pregnant woman's closest friends or female family members. If you're reading this and are pregnant yourself, you can ask your loved ones to arrange this for you.
During the Mother Blessing ceremony, we pamper the expectant mother with a foot bath and massage, and we'll do relaxation and movement exercises, sing, talk, listen, hold and uplift the mother in various ways.
Each person who comes to the celebration is invited to bring a bead that they have chosen with the mother in mind. Along with the bead, they write on a piece of paper what kind of bead they've given, as well as a sentence expressing something strengthening and inspiring for the mother to think about before birth. It can be a blessing, part of a poem, or just a thought. The beads are then collected and threaded onto a string for the mother to wear during labor and birth. Many mothers have said that these beads gave them strength and focus during birth. This is a powerful and tangible way for you to show your love and support, and the necklace becomes a beautiful keepsake for the future.
I provide tea, and you bring fruit and snacks for everyone.
Duration: The ceremony lasts approximately 3 hours, and I would need approximately 60 minutes before to prepare and decorate the room, and around 40 minutes after to clean up.
Location: At your house or other place of your choice and that you organise.
Price: 3 500 SEK, including Braïdo Organics Mother Blessing oil for the expectant mother.
